Who Do You Side With?

The County Election

I know it is a bit early to be thinking about who to vote for but thought I might give you some ideas to think about for the next few months. I have always been an advocate of voting for someone that you feel would make the best candidate for the office. I have never been an advocate of voting for someone just because you are against his opponent and the person you are voting for has the best chance of winning the election over him.

In order to vote for the best candidate for the office a person has to take a stance on all of the issues that the candidate must deal with and determine for himself how the best way of dealing with it. It is only then that you have the ability to cast an informed ballot. That, to me, is the most important part of the duty of electing someone into office.

Once this is accomplished then a person should study the position of each of the candidates so as to determine just how he proposes to handle each of the issues. It is only when this is done can a person enter into that voting booth and cast a ballot for the candidate that a person is in agreement with on the issues. In my opinion, to vote in any other manner is being hypocritical.

But regardless of who you are thinking of voting for I ran across a web site that might aid a person in making a more informed decision. It requires a few minutes of your time to determine where you stand on the issues but when finished it will use this to show you which of the candidates would carry out the duties of office in a manner that you would approve of. Of course this depends upon his keeping his word on his stance on the issues.

I think you’ll find this site informative and enlightening and you might find the results startling too. Anyways here is the link to the site.

Interesting exercise. Yes, I was a bit surprised that I lean so strongly dem (and even more surprized that I also lean libertarian?)
IMO, it was probably the science issue questions; as you probably know that group (Pew Research, for example) is over 90% dem-
probably more of reaction against conservative stances on evolution, global warming, stem cell etc. Say, Griper..do we get
    graded on the survey? ๐Ÿ™‚

Ahhh, BB, i’m a liberal leaning person when it comes to grades. you get to grade yourself. ๐Ÿ™‚

as for you leaning libertarian, i’ll have to say i’m not too surprised. i have often observed to myself over the years that you lean farther to the right than a some of these self-proclaimed rightists. there are times i think you lean farther right than RN. lol no insult intended. ๐Ÿ™‚

maybe i’ve been a bad influence on your politics… think so? ๐Ÿ™‚

Interesting survey; IMO, the ‘strength of opinion’ and ‘choose an
alternate stance’ options significantly expanded the survey as a tool. Especially in those areas where one may be neutral or
lukewarm. As near as I can tell, though, most folks pretty much
have their voting figured out…not sure who those are that are
so open-minded as to be swayed at the last minute….

i agree. i found it interesting on a personal level. like you i was a little surprised at the conclusion was. they had me leaning republican. i guess that had to do more on my stance on the legality of drugs.

  5. The problem with NOT voting for the LESSER of two evils is that somebody WILL vote for the GREATER of two evils.

  6. The Griper

evil result either way in your scenario, Gorges, so why aid it?

Be respecful or your comment will be deleted. Also know that Alinsky tactics do not phase me
