It is for times such as this that the founding fathers saw to it that the People had the means of keeping our nation, our States, our towns a government of the People, by the People, and for the People.
There is no such thing as “Common Sense gun control laws” only laws giving control of guns to the government and that is one thing we dare not do if we seek to keep our liberty and rights. If believing in this makes me an extremist then I bear the title in pride.
I do wonder if today’s population would take matters into their own hand to oppose such corruption. From what I’ve seen so far, the sheeple will rely upon Government to fix itself.
Yeah, right…like that has worked so far…
We are a nation without a cause and no leaders to define that cause for the people to rally behind, Tom. That is the big problem.
After thirty some years in the ammunition industry, my take is that gun laws have loosened considerably. (although personal weapons are banned in that industry as well as most defense plants.) IMO,
there are some extreme views on both sides of the issue, so I would argue that ‘common sense’ applies here as well as with most other issues. What do you make of these kids ?
my take on the kids? i can answer that one by asking one question. do you think anyone will try to bully them?
Well, Griper..”do you think anyone will try to bully them?”..knowing kids nowadays, yep: other kids with bigger heat!
BB, all bullies have one common trait. they are cowards. they rely on the ability to intimidate not on the ability to overpower. they choose their victims and, in my opinion, these two boys do not fit the profile that bullies look for.
in fact, this scenario would result in a case that tests my theory of strength vs power. its not the size of the gun that will be the determinant but the size of the heart that will be the determinant.
Further discussions on the topic here . IMO, a gun is
just a weapon: the person using it is responsible for results,
good or bad. They have finished invesigating the U Idaho professor who had a CC permit, emptied 11 nine mm rounds into his ex-girlfriend and blew his brains out. So “its not the size of the gun that will be the determinant but the size of the heart that will be the determinant.” needs be qualified with brain & morality.
your qualification would be true in regards to all behavior, BB. do we want the government to control all behavior just because a few do not behave in a moral way or have not thought their behavior through enough so as to not behave in a careless manner?
as for your example, isn’t that kind of behavior the reason for having a system of justice in the first place?
besides, based upon the understanding of the federal Constitution as we have often discussed it would be unconstitutional to have any restrictions by the federal government. only State governments have that authority unless restricted by State constitutions.
Seems like the government tries to control all behavior just because a few do not behave in a moral way.
that is the essense of the meaning behind power, control of behavior with force being the means to that control, Terry.
